Show and Tell Monday
A little link-up...why not? Beats complaining about the fact that it's Monday. And that a certain little man was up EVERY HOUR last night. (I guess I shouldn't have complained about the every 2 hours waking the night before, eh?)
So...linking up with Becky @ From Mrs. to Mama

This Weeks Questions: Careers/Your "Job"
1. Tell us what you studied in college. Is your job now related to what you studied?
I studied Nursing and I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Now? I'm a SAHM so I guess I do a little of both ; ) Putting on Band-Aids and telling my toddler for the 14th time to "Go NIGH NIGHT" counts, right?
2. Tell us what your everyday job looks like.
Ah, I'm a SAHM now and not technically working as a nurse. So... Change diapers. Feed baby & toddler. Read books. Play. Hold Baby. Change diapers. Fill juice cup. Wipe up baby drool. Do 57 loads of laundry. Change diapers. Hold Baby. Empty diaper genie. Enforce naptime. Clean kitchen. Change diapers. Feed. Change. Play. Clean. WASH//RINSE//REPEAT.
3. Do you have a picture of you at work? Show us. No... sorry! At home it would be yoga pants + a tshirt and my hair in a pony tail with no makeup on. Picture that hotness.
4. In 10 years, what do you see yourself doing? Same thing? More? Tell us.
Something in the field of Nursing. I plan to go back for my Master's Degree, but not sure what specific tract yet (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Anesthetist, etc.) I also think sometimes maybe I would just be casual or per diem somewhere and pick up shifts as needed so I can still be available to shuttle the kiddos around and make it to all their school & extracurricular activities. (Gah, 10 years from now? Morgan & Joey will be 10 & 11, OMG. I can't even wrap my head around that!!)
5. Tell us what you have learned, and what {if any} recommendations you may have for those looking to go into the field you are in.
Well I can tell you the field of Nursing is NOT what you see on TV. Nothing can prepare you for the reality of what you will SEE, experience, and most importantly? Be responsible for. It can be intense and thankless. You will deal with all kinds of disgusting bodily fluids. (I love the people who start out in Nursing and say "But I don't do vomit..." You will!) There's an insurmountable amount of knowledge to gain - you will never ever know everything. I've worked in places where you are a valued team member and other places where nurses are a dime a dozen - everyone is replaceable. So if you think you're special, it's probably not the field for you. But it can be very rewarding if you get personal satisfaction from helping and comforting others. Life is short. And precious. Every time I had a patient in the final stages of death, I always took note of who was there and it broke my heart when the patient was alone. So love the people closest to you like today might be your last.

All I Wanted Was...
To get some Holiday pictures taken of my sweet little babies.
Ha. Ha HA HA! Yeah Right!
Saturday morning we got them dressed up in their matching little plaid getups (I'm a sucker for a cute plaid!) and loaded them into the Fun Bus to go get Christmas pics taken at the local Portrait Innovations. We had an appointment and everything. I thought it would be a quick, easy, and cheap way to get at least one set of requisite cheesy brother/sister photos.
One look at the zoo that was the waiting area told me the whole endeavor was gonna be a complete fail. We waited for 45 minutes trying to entertain MoJo. This is considered an eternity in Momworld.
Did I mention we had an appointment?
Oh Hi. I'm ready to have my picture taken.
JUST as we stand up to leave, they call our names. (Of course.) So we give it a shot....I mean...we are already there, the kiddos are dressed....why not? Only the photographer tried to stuff my too-big-but-can't-yet-hold-his-head-up-100% baby into a basket where he laid there like a splayed-out frog. And my toddler wasn't having any of it. Not even a little bit. She ran around with a stuffed monkey, pulling ornaments off the Christmas tree, yelling "Noooo....Noooooo!". *Sigh*
Exasperated, we packed up and just left. What are you gonna do?
In other weekend news, Friday night the Hubs and I had a date night. It was fantastic, just dinner at a newer restaurant in town. We weren't even home an hour and the crying started. Oh yes, MoJo tag-teamed us all night long by alternately crying every 2 hours or so. I think maybe they don't like it when we go out? Because this has happened before - it's so strange because they always seem to go to bed quite easily.
Saturday night, Joey was up to eat every 2 hours, on the dot. He must not have liked the time change?? Or he's going through a growth spurt (that's always our response since he eats non-stop.) But seriously, what happened to sleeping through the night????
Ah well...I'm sure I will look back on this time and just laugh. This is the life of a parent.
Holiday photo?
I broke up with Birchbox (I just wasn't feeling it with the samples I had been getting. I felt bad dumping them after the big Storm Sandy, but there's never a good time to break up, right? lol) and I hooked up with Stitchfix. OMG. Got my first box within days and LOVE it! I only kept 1 of the 5 items, but they are really onto something. My invite took a couple of MONTHS to finally get through, but it was well worth it. I'm so excited for this!
I snuggled with this little man:
And we had spaghetti:
Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!!

Halloween 2012
I was pretty excited for Halloween this year, having two little monsters to dress up and all.
It was Mission Nearly-Impossible to get a pic of these two!
My Poor Little Dragon was not feeling so well after all his shots earlier in the day :(
All dressed up and no place to go!
So we stuffed Morgan into her Ducky costume and went to Outback, lol! The kids were really good, everyone commented on what a cute Ducky Morgan was and Mommy & Daddy got to enjoy a nice steak.

And for fun, my burgundy corduroys newly in rotation of my Mom Uniform.
While I don't think we will make this a tradition, I know I need to be realistic in my expectations with two little ones. It was still a nice night getting to spend time together as a family and getting out of the house. And Mama didn't have to cook or clean up the kitchen :-)
