Last Week + Weekend

Last week, I took the kids to get new shoes since they are both outgrowing what they currently have.  I never realized how fast their little feet grow!  I've decided it works better to just get them ONE good pair rather than a bunch of crappy pairs from Target that they will just outgrow in a minute.

Morgan was pretty pumped about shopping.  She is my daughter, lol!  Joey just wanted to sleep.  He needed to store up some energy so he could clean off every.single.shelf within his reach at Stride Rite.  It was like a baby shoe blender frenzy in there.

She's mastered the shopping game face.  It's ON.

The shoe du jour.  No others will do.  Ever.
Morgan was immediately drawn to several pairs of shoes that were all sparkly and pink.  She refused to even consider another pair.  I let her pick out a pair for everyday wear, but she really needed some good gym shoes for Teeter Tots, which starts up again this week.    She keeps saying "I no like gymmers Mama.  Dey not pwetty."

Another day we went to the park to meet up with one of the girls in Morgan's preschool and her Mommy.
"Oh hey, look, a ball that isn't ours!  Let's ignore the playground equipment and fight over this intead! Yeah!"

Addicted to swinging
Daddy was on call AGAIN (he switched weekends so we could go to Kiawah, but MAN do call weekends come way too fast and pass waaay too slow.)  So we also did a fair amount of self-entertaining at home because Morgan had me up from 12-5am BOTH Friday and Saturday night.  I'm not sure why, but she just wanted to play.  CIO does NOT work with her.  She will scream, of the bloodcurdling variety, for hours.  And hours.
Along with increased interaction between these two, there is increased fighting.  Oh, the fighting!
Joey's face got all sliced up compliments of Miss Freddy Kruger:

It's no wonder he sought out a little peace and solitude out on the porch.  I found him out here, just chillin':

We ended the eternity-length call weekend with a dinner out on Sunday night.  The kids were, much to my surprise, very-well behaved.  I think they were just happy to get out of the house again.
Like I said on the Grams...going out to dinner USED to mean bellying up to the bar while we waited for our table.  Now? It means we play on the stairs outside until we are called to be seated.  It's a lot cheaper this way too, lol.
Feeding Dada.  He's big into "sharing" his food these days!

Morgan doesn't let me dress her AT ALL anymore.  Oh well.  It was fun while it lasted.  She pretty much just wants to be decked out in head-to-toe pink! sequins! and sparkles!  At least I can still dress Joey in whatever my little heart desires.  Today it's a black Puma track suit and sunglasses with hearts on them.  He's gonna kill me if he ever sees pics!

Sharing

This will be random.  As always.

First of all, I feel like I unintentionally lied a lil bit.  Remember how I raved on and on about my Napoleon Perdis spray foundation?

Well....the reviewers were right.  It didn't last long before it was hissing empty.  Maybe 3-4 weeks and that's of NOT every day use.  Boo.  Lesson learned.  I'm sorry.  Don't hate me.

LOVE these....they've helped tremendously with toddler constipation and they taste good.  She asks for her gummies every day!

Got this tunnel for the kids and it is the one toy they both play with over and over again.  Best $14.99 I've spent on anything!
Found HERE at IKEA

Provides minutes of fun.  Disregard the Dora undies in the background.  They are just for looks.
Went to visit my friends at Ulta again...in search this time of a face primer that WON'T make me break out.  I learned that the silicone based primers (which most of them are) make you break out if you're prone to that sort of evil (I am).

Good so far, and it hasn't run out yet ;-)

I also was in the market to try a new mascara - I always go back to CoverGirl Lash Blast, but I know there are a zillion new ones out, so I wanted to see what was up.

My BFF at Ulta informed me this is "the best selling mascara in the world right now".  That's quite a claim.  I didn't have time to fact-check her, so I took her word for it.
Benefit "They're Real!" mascara.  Gotta love the name.
Quick sidenote:  Does the name of this mascara make anyone else think of that Seinfeld episode with Teri Hatcher and she says "By the way....they're real.  And they're SPEC-TACULAR!"  No?  Just me?

I need book recommendations...the Hubs and I are headed to a medical conference in Kiawah Island, SC and he will be tied up most of the days.  I won't even know what to do with that much free time on my hands, but I'm looking forward to it (and I'm planning to get all my homework done before the trip so I don't have to worry about it!)  I can't wait to hit up the food scene there.  Sad that I'm most excited for the food.

Let Me Paint You a Picture

I don't think I ever fully anticipated what some of my days would look like with two little kids so close in age.
Monday night, the Hubs went to a wake for his great uncle.  I had to make a quick decision to either drag two little hellions while chasing them around the funeral home, sweating, and praying to Dear God above they didn't touch the body -- OR stay home and do bedtime solo.

Staying home won that round.  No brainer, right?

Well.  HA HA HA.  It was all at once awful and hilarious.

It was bath night.  Joey always tries to dive head-first into the tub WITH his clothes still on, so you'd assume I undress him first.  BUT, if I do, I run the risk of him running around nekkid and peeing anywhere he pleases.  Plus I can't sit him in the tub unless I'm right there the entire time because he also has a tendency to whack his melon in the tub and a drowning baby isn't something I want to deal with.  Ever.

So I decide to strip Joey down to his diaper and then realize, he's filled that thing with all sorts of unkind matter.  No problem, I'll wipe him down before I stick him in the tub.  But Morgan takes off with his full diaper, running....and it's open.   Of course she's screaming and laughing because this is FUN!

I get Joey cleaned up and he's now naked, running free.  I try to tackle Morgan, who is also running, flinging a poopy diaper around.  Poopy diaper #1 has now taken priority over the possibility of Joey peeing everywhere.

I get a hold of Morgan, strip her down, and realize oh hey, it's time for allllll the kids to poop, as she too, has filled her diaper.  I no sooner get the diaper off her and start wiping and Joey comes up and swipes HER diaper.  Full of nuggets.  And takes off running.  (You'd think I'd learn to close up the diaper immediately, right?  Not when these kids are thrashing around, I'm usually using all of my extremities to hold them down.  If only I had another arm AND leg!)

So he runs off, and I can't find any of the nuggets that were previously present in Morgan's diaper.  I have two naked children that could pee at any moment on the carpet.  I swiftly grab both kids and throw their stinky little rumps in the tub.

And not even 5 seconds after setting them in the water, I see more tub nuggets floating away.  Multiplying.  EVERY. WHERE.

I yank both kids back out of the tub, drain all the water, rinse the tub, then start to refill it.  By now, they're naked, wet, laughing, and again running around thinking this is all just WAY. TOO. FUN.

If I ever get the side eye from anyone about my wine or beer consumption, I'm inviting them over for bath night.  Maybe they can find the lost nuggets.

Morgan's First Day of Preschool

I'm sure everyone is tired of seeing kids on their first day of preschool, but I have to do it!

She is in the 2's class at Bluebird this year.  I haven't decided yet if she will go to Montessori next year or not, but I need to make that decision soon because she has a spot.

A couple of things that we want to remember about her first day:

I got her to wear something other than that pink & green birdie shirt.  It was a massive struggle.  But I'm gaining confidence in my persuasion powers.
She insisted on the bracelet (and many other accessories that I put the kibosh on).

Since it was the first day, it was only one hour.  As soon as we came home, this happened:
Apparently 1 hour of preschool is just too taxing ;-)

I died laughing when I saw this on FB...one of my friends from back home in MN (sorry I jacked your picture Layne!)  Let's be honest here:  Layne does not read my lil Mommy blog.

When I dropped Morgan off she did just fine.  Walked in like a big girl and didn't look back.  Which is surprising because every kid that was already there was screaming/crying/falling all over themselves.  It even scared me a little!  I slipped out before she noticed I wasn't coming in the room and Ms. Hilary said she did fantastic.

When I came to pick her up, she had a dirty diaper and would NOT let her teachers change her.  This didn't surprise me.  I changed her in the classroom on the changing table and we left.  The whole rest of the day all she talked about was "I have fun.  Mama change the diaper at school!"
Got a little 1:1 time with this boy
Joey was being extremely grumpy around dinner time.  Like more so than usual.  He just wanted to be held and I just wanted to make dinner, so I threw his little butt into the Ergo.  I was surprised at how comfortable it still is even though he's a giant manbaby.

He LOVED it.  I don't think he made a peep or moved from this position the whole time!
And then of course...Monkey See, Monkey Do...

From my Instagram, and of course I had to chide the Husband a little bit:

"Mommy's future surgeon."

Of course Daddy was all "NOOOO NOT SURGERY!!" lol.

Psssshhhht Doctors.
