More September Sweetness

Daddy's had the last 2 weekends off work (plus a couple extra days too!), so we've been busy!

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed when I let the blog go too long without posting - like there are so many pictures to upload, stories to tell, updates to report, etc.  Real problems we have here, I tell ya ; )

When we go out, I've been lazy about taking the good camera along...it seriously takes so much junk just to get out of the house I rarely feel like lugging it along too.

Here's a rundown of what our little family of 4 has been up to:

Hanging out in the park while Morgan gets some swing time
Joey's growing so fast.....man.  Every time I turn around I have to order him new PJ's.  And I want to remember this when I am old and demented:  I can guarantee 2 out of 5 times when I am breastfeeding him I will feel that familiar hot, wet sensation on my belly, and then down on my legs:  He pees on me all the time!  And his blowouts are becoming more epic by the week.  I've never seen a kid poop such a large amount, ha ha!  I spent my Friday night cleaning us BOTH up.  Ah well, at least he's REALLY freaking adorable.

He's smiling up a storm these days, mimicking our facial expressions and drooling like crazy.  Can't believe he'll be 3 months in a couple of days.

Last weekend we went out to my MIL's for a cookout with some of the family.  It was a spectacular fall day and we let Morgan have a little freedom.
Running around like a wild woman at Nana's house

Picking flowers and smelling them until they are just little smithers of a flower left ; )

Went to see the "Ho-see!"
On this day we went to a fundraiser to support the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center.  Such a great cause...anyway, they had a miniature train to take people out on rides, lots of snacks, a petting zoo, a magician.  So fun!
Riding the little train at the NKYCAC fundraiser

Not sure about all the noise and smoke coming from the choo choo...
Later that same day we went to a housewarming party for one of my Hubs's coworkers.  Morgan was the only girl there.  It was so funny to see these kids all sitting, eating together.  They didn't interact, just stared at each other from time to time.  It will be such a joy to watch them grow up together.

Every once in a while I would look over at them and think to myself what a big girl she is turning into...no longer my baby :(  When we got home, Joe said "I bet in 10 years those boys will be chasing after Morgan!" Not my baby, noooo!!!
Eating dinner with the boys.

Today we are hanging out at home, catching up on housework that's been neglected.  Morgan woke up with a little bit of a fever so we are taking it easy.  Lots of snuggles and cuddles going on round these parts.

Things she's saying:
Me:  "Morgan what does a kitty cat say?"
Morgan:  "Maow."

She's also using the word "No" more frequently now (too much, lol!) and "Down" all the time.  Although she will also say "DOOOWWWN" when she really wants to be picked up, ha ha.

And this morning she came wandering into the bathroom and said "Hey Mommy!"

She's also been waking again in the middle of the night and it's really hard to get her back to sleep.  As soon as you lay her down, she bolts up screaming.  Whenever I can, I send the Hubs to take care of that little situation, lol.

As for Joey, I've noticed he cycles his sleep.  He will go a couple of days where he doesn't really nap all day long.  He might doze off for 20 minutes here or there.  But about every 3rd day or so, he'll take a nice 2-3 hour nap during the day.  And regardless of the day sleep, he is still sleeping through the night (amen!) so I really can't complain.  Sometimes he's up at 5am for a feeding and goes right back to sleep for another 2-3 hours.  Sometimes he sleeps in til 7am.

All in all, things are going great and I'm so thankful for these two little monsters!

The time I got stuck in a convertible during a test drive

We've been searching for *the perfect car* for my Hubs now for a while.  At this point, I don't care WHAT he gets, as long as he stops taking mine to work!  To catch you up, he hasn't had a new car in 15 years.  And he made sure to get me & the kids a decent/safe ride a few months ago...so I am really excited for him to get something HE'S excited about.  Even if it's not the most practical.

He FINALLY has it narrowed down (it was actually love at first test drive but we had to shop around).  Since the initial lovefest 2 weeks ago, we've had a hard time getting the exact car he wants.

Today we test drove the model he's interested in, but this one was a used car that would give us an idea of what the brand new one would feel like.

(It was the perfect weather day to be test-driving convertibles, BTW.)  A cheap fun date indeed!

When we arrived back on the lot after our test drive, my door wouldn't open.  Not only that, but the whole car went into spaz-mode, and the locks began locking/unlocking over and over again.  I panicked and suddenly became very claustrophobic, lol!  And in case you're wondering YES the top was already up, haha!

Luckily our sales guy came to our rescue after he saw me freaking out...I'm sure I looked REAL sane at that point ; )  It took some muscles, but he got the door open.  I don't think they'll be selling THAT car anytime soon.

I think he'd marry her if her could...
BTW, I'm pretty sure 2 car seats are NOT going to fit in that back seat.  That's OK...that's what my Mommymobile is for, right?
Drove this too....This one was a yawn-a-thon for me.
We still don't have a car.  And the saga continues...

So we grabbed some Smashburger...and 2,000,000,000 calories later....blech.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.  And then we headed home.
Love the view of our city skyline heading to my exit home...thankfully today was sunny and upper 70's!  But this was the weather LAST time we went test driving cars.
Good thing we had these cuties to come home to...
The cutest Little Old Man I've ever laid eyes on...

Modeling his new hat from Aunt Staci in Minnesota!

Annnddd....Miss Crazy with her Sunnies and stolen Paci.  She was really into grabbing my butt for some reason this day??

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!!  I'm so happy my Hubs is off work!  I think Sunday morning will hold pancakes and blueberries and a park date for our little family, then in the afternoon we will head out to my MIL's for a cookout.  Savoring every last little bit of summer we have left.

I *think* it's getting better...

I hesitated to even name this post - type those words - say it out loud....but knock on wood, cross your fingers & toes, and say a few Hail Marys because I think this whole "2 Kids Under 2" gig is getting easier.

Finally.

Don't get me wrong; there are days I still wanna pull my hair out.

I swear a lot.

I scream incoherently at my Hubs about how ICANNEVERGETANYTHINGACCOMPLISHED..... NOTONESINGLEFREAKINGTHING!!!!!

But then I maybe have a beer and chill out.  Or take a hot shower and a deep breath.

What's been helping?  I throw the babies in the double stroller and go walking as often as I can.  The fresh air and exercise (for me) does us ALL good.

Also, Joey's giving me longer stretches of sleep at night and for the most part, sleeping through the night.  Not every night, but I'll take it.  Sleep = Sanity.  Plain and simple.

I could just EAT HIS CHUBBY LITTLE FACE, Gah!!

Fell asleep in her high chair....I guess we are all tired around here!

I've also had a babysitter, whom I heart - AND trust - come in once a week or so, so that I can get out of the house ALONE and run some errands.

We've had Grandma babysit a few times so the Hubs and I can get out for a date night or afternoon here and there.

I've lowered my expectations of what I can and cannot get done and just have to accept that.

But I've been waiting for this period of time - where I have more good days in the week than bad, where I can say "I think I can handle this now!"  Where the Hubs isn't afraid to come home from work, lol ; )

I hope I don't have to eat my words tomorrow, lol!

Toddler School

Well I did it.  I sent Morgan to her first day of Toddler School yesterday.

Carrying her little backpack.

Her posing cracks me up!!!

She wasn't so sure about an outdoor photo shoot, haha!

"Mama HOLD MEEEEE!"

She looks so tiny in front of our giant door!

When I arrived to pick her up (she's only going 2 half days), she was asleep!  I talked with one of her teachers while we waited for her to wake up.  When she woke up, her little head popped up and she was all smiles ; )    Of course, her falling asleep for 20 minutes ruined any chance of a nap once we got home.  It was a LOOONG afternoon and an early bedtime!

As we left, she gave her teacher a big hug good-bye and waved to all the kids saying "Bye!  See you!  Bye!  See you!"

Awww..... my little baby is growing up.  I think this is going to be really great for her; to have the interaction with other kids and to be challenged and stimulated - plus going outside to play on a playground every day that she's there.   I've already had a lot of guilt about the decision to send her (WHAT?  A SAHM needs to send her kid to a glorified daycare?) but I'm owning it now.

Plus it will allow me to spend some more 1-on-1 time with this little man in my life.  I feel like I'm missing his babyhood.  I think he enjoyed getting to eat without the threat of a book being slammed into his head, or toddler screams interrupting his dining ; )
