Morgan Says...

Oh my goodness.  Morgan went from saying a lot of words, to stringing a lot of words together, to well....pretty much having a conversation with us.  Sometimes, it's completely hilarious.  At 25 months, she is way smarter than I give her credit for.

Like this morning for instance.  Joe and I were in our bedroom, picking up, gathering laundry, etc.  Morgan wanted to get on top of the bed.  I don't like her up there because we have a wooden platform on each side, then the low wooden footboard.  Lots of opportunity to fall and get hurt.

So I told her "No, I don't want you up there because you'll fall and get hurt."

Morgan replies with "Wrong."

Joe and I died laughing!!!

Yesterday, I was busy showering/getting ready during lunch time, so I assumed Joe had fed the kids.  When I asked Morgan "Did Dada feed you lunch?"

She replied "Yah."  (She's Norwegian now.)

I said "Oh, really?  What did you eat for lunch?"

Morgan said "Ummm...Chicken and apples."

Me:  "Oh.  OK.  Somehow I don't know if I buy that...."

Sure enough, he hadn't yet fed them lunch, lol!

Today I asked her if she wanted to start going on the Potty like a big girl.

She said "Yah.  And Dora Undies?"  (We've talked about that before, that if she goes on the potty, we'll say bye-bye to the diapers and she can wear Dora Undies.)

I said "Yes, you get to wear Dora Undies!"

She then asked "Mama wear Dora Undies too?"

Um...no.  Sorry Mo.  I want you potty-trained, but not that bad.

Last Friday night, she wouldn't go to bed.  We were messing around until 10:30pm after multiple tries (and lots of tears) to get her to sleep.  So we read about 100 more books and I rocked and rocked and rocked her in her room.

At one point, when I thought FOR SURE she was asleep, her little head popped up and really fast she rattled off "Dada! At Work! Hospital!  Doctor!  Sick People! Help!" and then laid her head back down.

She has decided now to just help herself to whatever snack she might be in the mood for in the pantry.  Today I caught her with a box of cereal (that she already had PLENTY of, we were about to have dinner, and I had already told her "NO MORE").  So she gets it herself, finds her little bowl, proceeds to ever-so-carefully pull out a few fistfulls, taking care not to spill one single piece.  She then takes the box and her full bowl over to her little table.  While I'm secretly watching, I'm pretending to ignore it and trying not to laugh.  I then sneak up on her with my hands on my hips and a stern look on my face.  She begins munching on her cereal and then looks up at me.  I must've scared her, just by suddenly being inches from her and her realizing she'd been caught.  She accidentally spilled her whole bowl all over the floor and then said "Oh No!  What Happened?"  I didn't say a word and had to turn around to hide my laughter.

I am loving this age and of course, our sweet, smart little girl.

  1. How cute!! She sounds like a little smartie! It's so fun watching them learn all of these new things and develop their own independent thoughts!

  2. I am still amazed at how quickly they change, from saying nothing to everything! And boy does little miss morgan have a lot to say :) I think hiding laughter is one of the hardest parts of the job! Even when they're rotten it's just so darn adorable.
