High Five for Friday

I'm linking up (or at least attempting to for my first time) with Kate from The Small Things Blog and doing High Five for Friday!

Here are my Five Highs:

1.  I have been up since 4:30am.  This time it was pregnancy-insomnia rearing its ugly head, and not my screaming child (BTW...she slept in.  Go figure).  SO MUCH on my mind.  But I decided to take advantage of this energy restlesness and get some stuff accomplished.  Pumped some Starbucks VIA into my blood and WATCH OUT WORLD.  I'm gettin' stuff DONE.

Like..... got my Master Bedroom Closet (well, my side at least anyways!) cleaned out.  Sorted through "Donate", "Store Away for Winter", "Store Away til After You're Done Popping This Baby Out Because No Way Will This Fit You Anytime Soon" (that was a hard category to admit to, but I did it).

{Now I just need to physically load the stuff into my car and DRIVE it to Goodwill.  I have a bad habit of putting the donation stuff in bags and letting it sit for...oh....EVERRR.}

2.  There are men in my house right now.  Installing cabinets and a pantry.  I even talked them into swapping my washer & dryer around (because I was working backward all this time, the doors opened into each other, and it drove me crazy!).  All it requires is new, longer hoses and they are gonna get me some and install them.  Score!

3.  I am going to a jewelry party tonight.  SANS CHILD.  I feel like a naughty teenager who's gonna sneak out of the house and stay out late.  In reality, I'm going to wear a dress and probably home in bed by 10, but I'm excited.

4.  We have some fun things planned this weekend - AND the Hubs is off.  Tomorrow evening we are having some friends over for dinner and maybe games.  The weather is supposed to be gorgeous so hopefully we'll be grilling.

Sunday we are having brunch at one of the BEST brunch spots EVER (we had our wedding there) with some of the Hubs' colleagues and their sweet families.

And Sunday evening we are having dinner at my Mother-In-Law's house for a belated birthday dinner for my Hubs.  I'm giddy about the fact I won't be cooking this weekend!  And my MIL is a fantastic cook.  They are Italian and they do food RIGHT.

5.  After much indecisiveness that was paralyzing my progress, I finally bit the bullet and ordered curtains and bedding for the nursery.  The price in a recent PB sale catalog was lower than what I saw online, so I had to call and SPEAK to a LIVE PERSON to order (oh no! Who does that anymore?) but it saved me some good money.  I LOVE a sale.  In fact, I refuse to buy anything anymore at regular price.

The curtains will arrive late next week and then I can select a paint color.  The bedding is on backorder til June, but whatevs.  We'll survive.  I decided I'm getting the bare bones and doing everything in Gray+White.  Once the baby is born and we know boy or girl, I will accent with another color to prevent it from being too boring.

If this baby is a boy:  Possibly Aqua or Orange. Or both?  I even like Yellow + Gray.  Oh boy.

If this baby is a girl:  I'm loving Lavender with Gray.  I could do Pink + Gray too - either hot pink or light pink.  Decisions decisions!

PB has coordinating fitted sheets (and other bedding) so I can go any of those routes and it will all go together.  They are such an enabler of my commitment phobia ; )

The only downside to my day:  There are men in my house right now, as mentioned.  Making a lot of noise.  I have a child who's gonna need to nap reaaaaalllllyyy soon.  They will be here all day.  Eeeek.

And I really need to stop looking at clothes online.  I don't really need any more maternity clothes (except maybe for 2 special events coming up in May).  And there's no point buying much in the way of non-preggo clothes right NOW.  I have made sure to stock up on larger sizes of comfy stuff for after baby is here and I'm sure I'll need to run out for a few things at that point.

But aren't these CUTE (both from Francesca's)??

ADORABLE.  But not baby bump friendly.

I would totally wear this running errands with Morgan.  But I need another striped dress like I need another hole in my head.
Also going on right now?  EVERYONE here is in a giant tizzy over the big UK/Louisville game in the Final Four this weekend.  We are SO NOT big sports fans, but even I'm catching some of the b-ball buzz.  Who knows, maybe I'll even turn the game on?  Wear a little Cats Blue? (My hubs attended Grad School at UK, so there's our connection.)

And lastly, I wouldn't mind winning the $500+ MILLION Mega jackpot this weekend.  I'd give lots away to charity, PROMISE!

Happy Friday!!!

Kind of Like a So What

I'm losing my mind.  I was going to do a "So What" post...but then realized it's not Wednesday.  ANNND I don't know how to link up.

So this will be random - and I hope I enjoy looking back at this some day.

Today in the exciting life of this SAHM, I cranked out 6 loads of laundry.  I washed, dried and put away every single dish.  (OK, that's an exaggeration, there's a full load cleaning now in the dishwasher).  I might lose my Woman Card here....but I have a confession:  I HATE HOUSEWORK.  Yes I enjoy a clean house, but I detest doing it all.  There, I feel better now.  When I hear a woman say "Oh I just looooove keeping my house all neat and orderly, it makes me soooooo happy!" I kinda wanna punch her in the throat.  Thank you pregnancy hormones.  You know what makes me happy?  When my cleaning lady has been here.

We had some lunch with my friend Jennifer, and although it was a bit cool out, enjoyed sitting outside for a while.

Strangely she left her hood up, but ripped out any hair accessory I tried to put in.

Chillin' with Jennifer in my hoodie.
Little Moo had already eaten her lunch at home.  But she kept shoving whatever food we'd give her into her mouth - pickles, chips, cookie, juice....right now this is the BEST way to entertain her while we are out to eat.  No toy holds her attention as long as food that she can feed herself does.  (Note to all you about-to-be-first-time-Moms!!)  I love that she has become so excited about eating!  She's also started letting me know when she's had enough:  She'll purse her lips really tight and then wave her hand in front of her mouth like she's making a "NO MORE" motion.

She also started saying "Oh.  OHHHH" today, like you are telling her a really fascinating story.  I cracked up EVERY TIME.

THEN this evening, something that I have been dreading finally happened.  My child ate dog food.  I lived to tell about it, although I'm still gagging.  She seemed quite proud of herself!  I was refilling the dog's water dish and let my guard down, because that's the dish Morgan ALWAYS heads for - to splash around in.  By the time I walked the full water dish back over to where we keep the dog's food, Morgan was on her knees with her back to me, holding onto the dish.

I said "Morgan...No No.  Get away from Dakota's dog dish."

She didn't even turn around.  She just bobbled her head at me, the way she always does now when I tell her "NO".  Sassy Molassy.

I put the water dish in its place and then picked her up and she smiled REAL big at me.  I could see dark brown crumbs around her mouth.  Horrified, I stuck my finger in her mouth and swiped out NOT ONE, but TWO pieces of dog food.  EW. EW. EW.  She just giggled and kept making chewing motions, making me wonder if there was more in that little gullet of hers.  (There wasn't).  Little stinker!  God I love her.
Post-Nap hair.  It's getting a little outta control over here.
Other than that I had a bit of a mental day, struggling with what needs to get done around here and feeling like I'm spinning my wheels.  I can't seem to COMMIT to anything for the nursery.  Despite having found panel curtains I like for the nursery, I'm irritated that they cost so much (even on sale at Pottery Barn).  So then I start thinking "Surely I can find something similar somewhere else".  I look for a while, then give up.  And I'm right back where I started.  I just need to start pulling the trigger and getting stuff done!!

I MUST get our Master Bedroom closet cleaned out and we need to make our main floor living room a little more kid-friendly.  Right now it looks pretty but isn't functional.  And I'm not hauling TWO babies up & down a flight of 14 stairs every day come June.  So now that I put all that on my blog, I will be held accountable, right? Right.

Full Speed Ahead

That's what I feel like lately....this baby train is moving FAAAST!

Had my Glucose screen today.  I won't know the results for probably a day or two.  I'm not worried.  {Wait - Maybe I should be considering all that banana cake I ate?}

My OB indicated my weight gain is still on the low side.  I think I'm at 10-11 pounds total now and almost 27 weeks along.  But my belly IS getting BIGGER!  (For the record I feel VERY VERY pregnant.  Huge.  I know I'm gonna look back on this at, like week 37, and laugh at my silliness.)  He measured it again today and said "You're right on track:  Not too big and not too small."  Music to my ears.  And we listened to the heartbeat again, always reassuring.  Although reassurance can be found usually every night between the hours of 11pm - 3am.  Non-stop reassurance ; )

I was a little suprised when he said "I'll start seeing you every 2 weeks now.  We'll have you fill out the consent forms for your C-section and we'll go ahead and get you scheduled today.  You'll be getting a call letting you know when it will be."

Just like that!  Whoa Nelly!  Already??  EEEEEEEEKKKKK!  I'm ready to have my body back and not feel like a beached whale.  I'm not ready for this baby to be here just yet though.  Still so much to do.  But every day more and more I am thinking about this sweet little baby growing inside me, wondering what he or she will look like.  Wondering who he or she will be.  I wondered the same things with Morgan.

Every night the Hubs and I have a "Naming Pow-wow".  We discuss potential names for this precious little one.  Just like with Morgan, we're not getting very far.  It's so frustrating!  We don't want something trendy -- or super unique -- or difficult.  But on the other hand, we don't want something boring and lame-o either.  Traditional, classy, strong.  Those are words I would use to describe what I'm looking for.  Pretty much every name I hear these days garners the same reaction out of me:  "Ugggh.  HATE it."

What else is going on...
I got stood up by a Tile guy.  He was supposed to come over and failed to show.

I got stood up by our builder, who is supposed to be installing new cabinets and a pantry in our laundry room.  That was supposed to happen the first week of March.  I think he's bailed on me every week since then.

Sensing a theme here?

My Dad's birthday is this coming weekend and I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I could go home to MN to celebrate it and see my family.  I miss them all so much!

13 Months and Shenanigans

Morgan is 13 Months old!  Wowza.

She...

Weighs about 21 pounds and is 29 inches long.
Cruising, SOCLOSE to walking, but not quite yet.
Loves to walk with Mommy or Daddy holding her hands.
Is drinking Whole Milk now.
We still do a morning bottle OR straw sippy and an evening bottle.
{That evening bottle may be around a while}
LOVES Dakota, splashing in Dakota's water dish, her piano, Gina the Giraffe, REAL cell phones, animal books, digging in mommy's hair accessories drawer in the bathroom, and other kids.
DISLIKES bedtime, getting dressed, diaper changes, the vaccuum cleaner, riding rear-facing in her carseat, and Mommy sitting at her computer.

Takes 2 one-hour naps each day.
Goes to bed around 8:00/8:30 and wakes up around 7:00/7:30.
Lately has been waking at midnight every night and wants to party and talk and read books!
Had her first ear infection :(
Has 4 teeth.

I can't tell you how much I love this big cheesy toothy grin!!

Has become more independent eating -- pretty much ONLY wants to feed herself and will push away anything mom or dad tries to feed her.
LOVES and will double-fist mandarin oranges, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, cheese, Ella's fruit & veggie pouches.  Eats most fruits without any protest.
Likes soups, PB sandwiches, avocado, Cheerios, and oatmeal.
DOES NOT LOVE meat or vegetables.  Except carrots and occasionally green beans.
Nice try Mama.  I'm not eating that!
Says "Da-Da" for everything.  Even when we say "Say Mama!"  She says "Da-Da!"
Also says "Mmmm..." when she likes something to eat.
Is making other funny words such as "Gun-DAH" (We think this might be her version of Dakota?) "Wissseee Wisseee Wissee", and
"Ra Ra Ra, La La La" in response to when Mama sings "La La La"
These are her most consistent "words", ha ha!
Pointing at EVERYTHING
Has started dancing to her piano or any music that comes on.
Will wave one hand while bopping her head to the music.  So cute!
Has started bobbling her head around when Mommy tells her "No".
Obsessed with ceiling fans. light switches, turning the TV/Stereo equipment off, and Daddy's glasses

Loves bath time, tries to stand up all the time.  Will sit back down when we say "Sit down please."
Likes to hold on to the side of the bath tub while standing and
will bounce while she smacks her thigh or her belly repeatedly.
THIS. IS. HILARIOUS!!!
Where does she learn this??
The other night, she was slapping BELOW the belly.  I had to stop her, but I was laughing so hard!

Sit Down Please.

OK, OK, I'll sit back down.  When I'm done slapping my belly.

Can point to her belly when you say "Where's Morgan's belly?"
Can also point to/grab her feet, nose, and waves hands if you ask where they are.
Waves to anyone who talks to her
Sticks pointer finger out so that you will touch yours to hers and say "ET...Phone Hoooome"
Rips out every hair accessory
Gives kisses, sometimes rather violently, lol!

Is Loved Beyond Words.
